Frequently Asked Questions

WHY SHOULD I GET TATTOOS AT HORSESHOES AND HANDGRENADES?

Our artists take tattooing very seriously. We try to make every tattoo a piece of art that we would be proud to wear ourselves. Each of our artists has their own individual style, and between the 4 of us, there is someone who will fit your tattoo project perfectly. We are also very health conscious, we practice the highest standards of safety, and are all certified in Blood Bourne Pathogens, Skin Disease, CPR and First Aid.

HOW DO I FIND THE SHOP?

We are located at 6 Center St. in Chicopee Ma. Across the street from city hall and the Munich Haus Restaurant. If you need and further help finding the shop, check out our contact page for a google maps, or feel free to give us a call at 413-331-0636.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION?

We are open Noon - 6pm seven days a week (although we often stay late and come in early). It is best to call ahead as not each artist works everyday.

DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

We do take walk-ins as time allows, but making an appointment will guarantee you a spot. If you are thinking about getting a spur of the moment tattoo, give us a call, and we'll be happy to let you know what we have open that day.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

First you need to know if you have an artist preference. You can view each artist's portfolio here on the site or in person at the shop. After you have an artist selected, you can come and talk to them in person. It's a good idea to give the shop a call first (413-331-0636) as not every artist works every day of the week. If you can't make it down to the studio, because you live too far away, or your schedule won't allow it, you can do a consult via the phone or email (see our contacts page if you wish to email a specific artist). We require a minimum $50 deposit before we start any drawing, or make an appointment. (some artists, or larger projects may require a larger deposit) Deposits are non refundable, but come off the cost of the tattoo.

YOUR SHOP DOESN'T CARRY FLASH. HOW CAN I BE SURE OF MY DESIGN?

Your tattoo will start from either a stencil drawing, or will be freehanded on you with marker, or both depending on the artists preference. Once you approve of the artwork, and spelling of any lettering, we will begin to make the design permanent.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN YOUR STERILIZATION PROCEDURES?

We use Nitrile (Latex Free) Medical gloves during the tattoo process. Every needle, is single use, and comes chemically sterilized in an individual package, sealed from the factory. Any item that is not single use (i.e tubes and grips) are individually packaged and sterilized in a steam autoclave that is spore tested monthly to ensure it is functioning properly. We also use single use ink caps and barriers on all of our working surfaces, and disinfect all surfaces with a medical grade disinfectant. If you have any questions or concerns before getting tattooed, feel free to ask your artist, they would be happy to walk you through it.

HOW MUCH DOES A TATTOO COST?

Our tattoos are all priced based on an hourly rate. This ensures that no one get's over charged or under paid.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY NEW TATTOO?

We will bandage you after your new tattoo. We recommend that you leave this initial bandage on for at least 4 hours. When you take this bandage off, wash it with fragrance/dye free soap and water, using only your finger tips. Don't over soak that tattoo. Pat it dry with a clean towel (used towels carry large amounts of bacteria) and wait 15-20 mins before applying your preferred ointment. Wash the tattoo 3 times a day, letting it dry, then apply ointment until the tattoo starts to peel (roughly 3 days to a week). After your tattoo begins to peal, switch from the ointment, to fragrance free hand lotion for the remainder of the healing process.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED IN THE SHOP?

We do allow Quiet, Well Behaved children in the shop the day you make your appointment, or if you're just stopping by. But not the day of your appointment. Tattoos are a very time consuming process, and even the best behaved children can become restless, and compromise the outcome of your tattoo, as well as the quality of others being tattooed at that time. There are also hazardous materials in a tattoo shop, that a child may not be aware of, and we wouldn't want your child to make a mistake that could put their health at risk.
